An Example of a Common House Dream
The symbol of the house is one of the most common that appear in our dreams. This is because it represents "the self" and since one of the reasons we dream is to aid self development it's no wonder it occurs frequently.
Your dreams at the moment sound very much like you are going through a process of self discovery and change. If you replace where you have written "house" with "self" and look at what you are doing to your "self" in your dream you will find out what this dream is telling you.
You are rearranging things, throwing out unwanted bits, keeping bits you like, thinking about giving it a makeover (painting it). This represents changes you want me make within your self and discovery of what's in your self.
The fact that you don't recognise the house/self is important. Maybe you have been on a big learning curve lately, quite likely precipitated by a big life change or event and during that process your self has changed. During the dream you are becoming aquainted with the changes and new discoveries you have made about yourself - reorganising and putting yourself back in order.
